BLACK BEAR HUNTING

The excitement of hunting the Black Bear is well known to sportsmen alike, and to some, this may be considered to be the ultimate trophy. Labrador enjoys a healthy population of Black Bear due to the fact that it has had very little hunting pressure in this region.  Labrador Hunting Safari offers a very successful Spring Bear Hunt during the period of mid-June to late July.  In the spring, following their emergence from winter dens, these elusive Black Bears can be spotted roaming the territory, foraging for food to satisfy their enormous appetites.  Black Bears possess an extraordinary sense of smell and a high level of intelligence, making them sometimes difficult to track.  Labrador Hunting Safari has had great success in conducting their Spring Black Bear hunts over monitored baits. The successful hunter must be unseen and unheard, often for hours, before a Black Bear will approach the baited site, therefore, skill and patience is of utmost importance. For current rates and availability on our Spring Black Bear Hunt, please contact our office. You may also wish to take advantage of our Spring Black Bear Hunting/Fishing Combo as this time period provides some of the finest fishing opportunities you will ever experience.  Please inquire for further details and current rates.

Typically, early fall provides a more diverse choice of foods for the Black Bear, with a huge variety of berry crops abundantly available at that time. Therefore, your chances of success while conducting the hunts over monitored baits, are somewhat decreased.  For the hunting enthusiast with a primary interest in hunting caribou, Labrador Hunting Safari offers Black Bear Hunting as a secondary activity, at no additional cost, however, you must purchase a license. Licenses are available for purchase in camp and do not need to be ordered in advance.
