BIG GAME REGULATIONS IN LABRADOR:

  • Non-Resident Big Game Licenses for Caribou and Black Bear are available through licensed Outfitters only.  Non-resident Big Game Hunters must be accompanied by a guide, provided by the Outfitter as part of the package.
  • Hunting rifle must be a minimum .243 calibre. Restricted and prohibited firearms cannot be used to hunt in Canada.
  • A longbow or compound bow is permitted, provided it has a minimum of 45 lbs. of pull at full draw.  There is no “early bowhunt” period in Labrador; bows can be used at anytime throughout the season.  Crossbows are not permitted.
  • Licenses for Caribou are good for two animals per tag (male or female)

 WHAT TO BRING FOR HUNTING:

  • All hunting gear is the responsibility of the guest
  • Sturdy, waterproof walking boots are a must! The terrain is generally rocky with moss covered surfaces, so they do not need to be high
  • A full rain suit is a must! Choose high quality, waterproof gear
  • Hunter orange vest or cap (at least one item)
  • A good set of binoculars for spotting; Camera
  • Ammunition is the responsibility of the guest. Bring additional ammo for sighting-in your rifles
  • Rifles must be a minimum .243 calibre by law  
  • Sleeping bag (pillow)
  • Towels and personal toiletries
  • Warm, layered clothing. Temperatures can range anywhere from 70 F in August/early September to 30 F in late September. Either propane or wood heat is provided in the sleeping quarters.

 WHAT TO BRING FOR FISHING:

  • Fishing gear is the responsibility of the guest. For spincast, a medium weight rod and reel with a 6-10 lb. test line is suggested.  An assortment of spoon type hooks (i.e. red devils), spinners and lures is suggested.
  • Fly fishing can be done with any type fly used for speckled trout. Fly patterns include wooly buggers, mayflies, mice etc. Extra spools and a spare rod tip, or a back-up rod is suggested.
  • Insect repellant/Sunscreen lotion and polarized sunglasses
  • Light, cotton gloves
  • Personal toiletries
  • Sleeping Bag (Pillow)
